Frequently asked questions

How bitola tracks the Portuguese used-car market, scores deals, and alerts you to price drops.

What is bitola?
bitola is a used-car price tracker for the Portuguese market. It watches listings across sources, keeps the full price history of every car, scores each deal against the live market, and emails you when prices drop.
How does the deal score work?
Each listing is rated great, good, fair, over, or way over the market. The rating compares the asking price against a live cohort of comparable cars — same make and model, similar year and mileage — using price percentiles. No VIN lookups and no third-party valuations.
Where does the data come from?
Public listings from Standvirtual and OLX today, scraped and normalised daily, with Custojusto and Auto SAPO planned. The same car listed on two sources is deduplicated so it counts once.
What are price-drop alerts?
Save a search and bitola emails you when a matching car appears or when a car you already watch drops in price. Unlike a marketplace's alerts, that includes drops on existing listings, not just new ones.
Why keep price history after a car is sold?
The history is the point. Marketplaces delete an ad once the car sells, so the record of what it asked and how the price moved disappears. bitola keeps it, which is what lets the deal score know what the market really pays.
Is it free?
Yes. Browsing is public and needs no account. A free sign-up adds saved searches and email alerts.
